NBC's B.I.G. "Bridge in the Garden" 2017 - a World's First!

Sunday, 05 March 2017 by Michael GOH

Here at NBC, we like our bridge players (especially our members) to have a good game, and that is not necessarily within the confines of four walls. In the town of Nagambie we have many wonderful outdoor venues, but there is none better than holding NBC’s inaugural “Bridge in the Garden” in the beautiful lush garden of ROSCREA*.

On Thursday 23rd March 2017, eleven complete tables of 44 enthusiastic bridge players from local surrounding region to Melbourne and even Warrigal came for a game of garden party with a difference; playing bridge outdoors in the shady serene garden and soaking up the party atmosphere - first with morning tea and after the session, everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch accompanied by local award-winning wines to quench the thirst.

Partly cloudy with light wind greeted the players at the start but not enough to deter everyone playing their favourite card game. With each round, the sun began to smile down on the players and by lunchtime it was a beautiful sunny 26C

In fact, B.I.G. 2017 was probably a World's First! For a young club like NBC, it has now done what no other bridge club has done in the world of Bridge. NBC was proud to have successful ran this RedMasterpoints event....with a green outlook.

With the success of this historic event, B.I.G. 2018 is certainly now on the cards!

*Featured in the Australian Open Garden Scheme, Roscrea is a 1890’s Victorian home and B & B surrounded by the most tranquil and picturesque gardens in the Goulburn Valley!
