The Canberra Festival of Bridge held annually is one of the largest bridge congresses(tournaments) in Australia.
Nagambie Bridge Club Director and Teacher Michael Goh teamed up with partner Bruce Minchinton and friends John Green and Gordon Coss from Sydney to win the Pianola Non-Life Masters bridge event at Canberra’s Summer Festival of Bridge. Held over three days (Jan 11 -13, 2017) and some 20 hours of competition time, the event is a test of stamina and concentration as well as skill.
Competing against 13 other teams from all around the country, Michael's team led from Day 1. Although the gap narrowed considerably going into the final match, keeping cool and their thinking caps on, Michael and his teammates were triumphant!
Final result: 6 wins, 1 draw 1 loss
In terms of Pairs Datum, Michael and Bruce sat on top of the ladder throughout the entire event; beating 28 other partnerships.
